What We Do
Pittsfield Listens brings community members together in a safe and authentic way to share ideas, get informed, discuss issues, and support solutions in the Town of Pittsfield.
We bring community members together in informal ways to strengthen social networks, connect people from diverse backgrounds, and spark discussions that could lead to more formal and sustained conversations. Community Building events include the Community Connection Series, Community Impact Awards, and the Pittsfield Listens Annual Volunteer Appreciation Celebration.
When the community is stuck on a particular issue, highly divided on a topic, or wants to create long-range visions of a preferred future, we support community conversations using a small-group facilitated process of engagement and working groups. Past topics for community dialogues have included “Strengthening Our Community-Facing Heroin and Substance Misuse” and “A Trail for Everyone”.
Pittsfield Listens trains and empowers community members and decision makers. By supporting the development of families and students to step-up to new levels of leadership in the community and schools, leaders emerge from anywhere. Pittsfield Listens provides educational opportunities at conferences and offers trainings in facilitation and other new skills.
